2013 City Minor Tournament Champions
Our minor baseball team, United Engineering (Green), remained undefeated throughout as they re-captured the City Minors Tournament trophy on Monday, June 24th at Lakehill (Ambassador Park) in a well fought battle against Lakehill that was still 2-1 at the bottom of the 5th.  In a flurry of swinging bats and agressive base running in the final open inning, they brought the final score to 9-1 with a clutch stand up double that cleared the other runners and scored 3.  This drove the fans to wild cheers!  Congratulations boys -- well done!

Minor and Major Softball Schedule Additions!

It might not be pretty but the Major and Minor Softball schedules have had updates.  The additions (no changes to existing games) are at the bottom and will be incorporated shortly into the existing more visually appealing format; the basic information will NOT change.

All Schedules Complete for the Season!

All schedules for all divisons have been completed to the end of the season

A huge "thank you" goes out to Dave Potter and Shannon Nakatsu for organizing this chaos into organized schedules, taking into account coaches who coach more than one division and coordinating umpires for each of these games, including arranging for several interlock games between other Division 7 Leagues.

Note the new HIGHLIGHT TODAY'S GAME feature by row COLOR

Minor Baseball Clinics - Saturday June 1st 9am-11am

Those currently enrolled in the Minor Baseball division and are interested in continuing their progression in their skill sets are invited to attend our ongoing Minor Baseball clinics.  The next one is scheduled for Saturday June 1st, 9am-11am on the Major Baseball diamond.

ALL Minor baseball players are welcome to attend, regardless of whether they intend to try out for the 9/10 tournament team. This clinic is in no way a try out, however, if your son intends to try out for the tournament team, they are encouraged to take part in these clinics when able.

Fire destroys home of Lakehill Baseball family

On May 1st a fire devastated the home of a Lakehill Little League family. Cora and Bryan both coach at Lakehill and their 3 oldest children play at Lakehill (the youngest is sure to follow once fully up and running!)
This family has lost their home and all their belongings in the fire and aftermath of smoke and water damage. We are extremely grateful that they are all safe and well.
They are truly in need and would be grateful for any community support with this difficult transition.
In addition to the collection box at the Lakehill concession, May 26th is the last weekend Layritz will have a collection box at our concession, when open, to help raise funds for this family.
As stewards of the community the Layritz board as unanimously agreed to immediately donate $500.  It is times like these where catchments and rivalries matter very little, but compassion towards others matters most.  Thank you in advance for any and all contributions to this family.

Minor Baseball Tournament at Hampton - May 17-20

A mixture of our Minor Baseball (and one Rookie Minor) players has a single team together and is headed to Hampton for a fun tournament over the May Long Weekend.  If the weather is nice, come on down, cheer on our team, and support District 7 Little League baseball.  The game schedule is posted on the Hampton web site.

UPDATE#1: The boys came 1st in the Round Robin and won their first round playoff round against Hampton 2.  Come cheer them on Monday at 11am in the finals against Beacon Hill on Hampton Diamond 1.

UPDATE#2:  In a great demonstration of what makes baseball fun, the boys played sound baseball and lead the entire game and eventually won 11-5 over Beacon Hill.

Major Softball in Kirkland Washington - May 17-20

Our Major Softball team is heading down to Kirkland Washington for the May Long Weekend (May 17-20) for their Little League Washington District 9 Mid-Season Tournament.  We're not sure if they'll be posting live updates, but we wish the team well.  Show them how we play softball in Canada girls!

ALL major baseball players are welcome to attend, regardless of whether they intend to try out for the 11/12 tournament team. This clinic is in no way a try out, however, if your son intends to try out for the tournament team, they are encouraged to take part in these clinics when able.

Let's make the park welcoming and shine for everyone to enjoy!

Major Baseball Modular Workshops

12 Major players attended Layritz's first modular workshop, a great turn out considering that most of our players were travelling abroad enjoying the sun.

The first set of workshops are focused on developing our players as outstanding catchers. Once all our players return from Spring Break we will be scheduling some more workshops, beginners to advanced. Layritz will also be providing other modular workshops such as pitching, middle infielders, corner infielders, and of course the all important outfielders. We are excited to start this type of development and watch our players develop into stronger, more confident, and just as importantly smarter ball players.
